She's not a friend if she does that.

Some people just like to talk about their kids as that is thier priority. Maybe she isn't meaning to do it to belittle you. But then again maybe she is. You have to decide that.

Sometimes people may think you should be different with your kids than you are and don't quite have the courage to convey that in an overt way and come across as condescending on you.

In any case it doesn't seem like you are compatible for the most part so I don't know why you would see that person as a friend. It's a big world, get out there and get to know it and you'll make lots of friends. Have your kids join some teams and clubs and you'll meet lots of good people, even if it's just once a week you meet it will be better for you than this relationship.

Josephine,

You have answered your own question. The prospect of losing a friend is always unpleasant - noone wants the world to become a little less friendly and less personal.

But perhaps if you jetison this lady you will not have to suffer her attackes calculated to belittle you, and your self esteem will not be taking hits any longer.

In my experience being direct and confrontational with her may provoke further confrontation. I would just not return her calls and say you are busy when she calls until she gets the message. And write her a letter expressing how you feel - so that you do not run the risk of a verbal confrontation - and can express exactly how you feel.

This is a friend? Perhaps you should find better company. I am pretty sure she is not the only person in the world. All you have to do is get off you butt and go find one

Tell her how you feel. Most relationships lack communication, you need to talk to your friend about this. If she understands, she is a friend you shouldn't "sack".
