Why does it matter? If you have 10 friends, people you believe are friends, that you have known awhile, been through things together, believe you can trust do you give each a grade and the one that's first is your "best friend".
You'll go through life knowing a great number of people, if you meet 10 people you can look back and say those were the friends i traveled through life with you'll be very lucky.
If you know a "friend" they are all your best friend (with the exception of your spouse (and I hope that person will be/is your best friend))
(I just picked 10, maybe it's a hundred, but I'm male and I think 10 is a reasonable number)

what is a best friend? they have to be loyal and honest. they wont ever do anything to make u hurt and dont think u are hopeless and that everything is ur fault. or make u feel left out constantly. they share u their deep darkest secrets and wont pass urs to anyone ever.
they are willing to sacrifice for u and die for u and protect u.
they wont leave u alone to go to some other people, they defend u and when ur hurt they will stay with u and comfort u until ur all better instead of going to some other popular ppl and leave u alone, they share their pity and pain and teach u life lessons and give u hope and faith. A true friend isnt who u gossip with and hang out. they must have all the qualties above.

when you can talk to her about anything without getting bored and you can trust her to keep secret and when you don't get mad at her for something stupid. and when you do everything together even stupid pointless stuff and even if she moves away you still talk to her on the phone and email her and stuff. and they always understand each others problems and you know you can be honest to her even if she might be disappointed.
once one of my best friends was like "come be a cheerleader with me" and i didn't want to AT ALL but i didn't want to make her mad and i told her i didn't want to and she didn't get mad at me or get all disappointed or anything. by the time i told her she didn't want to do it anymore. so it worked out great!
i'm sure you have a best friend and if not you will find one soon!

When a person is loyal and faithful.....one in whom you feel you can share your thoughts and secrets in confidentiality....a person who always lends a ear or a shoulder to lean on when your down.....a person who can enjoy your high moments in life without being envious....bascially someone who is there for you and supports you....whos not judgemental but tries to offer sound good advice when you need it.....a person whom you feel blessed to have in your life

a bestfriend is someone who can be there for you especially at times when you need him/her most.
a bestfriend is someone who will help you build self respect and self confidence.
she/he will be there through thick and thin... just like in marriage vows... hahaha... in sickness and in health... FOR RICHER AND FOR POORER (!!!)... till death do you part...
