When i became preg i weighed about 150-155 (5'3") (i had always been heavy, 173 April 05, lost down to 155 by August 05) and in the end of the 9th month 201 lbs. I was never sick, so i gained the 1st 10lbs in the 1st month or 2nd then it slowed and all of a sudden in the last 4 mos. it seems the rest came pilling on (spring/summer) it was so hot and my feet were all swollen and couldn't stand to go out (agghhh!) i love summer too, well now it's been 2 mos. tomorrow and i've only lost 20-23lbs. which 20 of came off in the 1st 2-3 weeks after her birth, and she was 7lbs12oz,21", maybe due to my attempt at breast feeding, i stopped, and my weight has been about 175-180 since, i've took a few diet pills and tried to cut back and be more active than before, but nothing seems to help all that much, i loose a lb., gain it back..., what can i do to get the weight to come back off faster?

First of all, with a new baby it's hard to find time to take care of yourself...I know. But if you can find time to exercise, it should help a lot. I bought a treadmill so I wouldn't have to leave home to exercise. Pilates is great, too, to help tone your abs, hips, and thighs and get rid of some baby fat. Hang in there, you've just gone through a lot and it's OK if it takes a little while to lose the weight.

Weight won't come off too quickly after you've had a baby, so if you're trying to lose it on crash diets you're probably not being healthy about it in the long run. I just had my daughter four weeks ago and like you I lost about 20 pounds within the first two weeks, but since then loss has stabilized. I've heard that you shouldn't lose more than a pound a week on any diet after baby, and that you shouldn't even start one until you're six weeks along. Your body is still recovering so I'd stress a little patience.
As far as what works best I've heard that working into light fitness routines is good--walking, yoga, perhaps some situps. Breastfeeding does lose pounds but if you've stopped already there's no way to go back.
Best of luck and be patient!

Do you drink soda's? I only ask because if you stop drinking them and keep up the activity (including a two or more mile walk each day) you will see the pounds melt away. Soda's contain a sugar named high fructose corn syrup and it's bad for us. The body doesn't recognize it as a sugar and doesn't release the insulin to take care of it. so it causes problems and weight gain.
Stay away from juices too as they are extremely high in sugar. A small glass (4 oz) once a day is ok but don't grab the large glass.
drink lots of water instead. Buy water if the tap tastes nasty or get a reverse osmosis system installed under the sink in the kitchen. same as the bottled stuff but costa less over time.
I was 230 pounds and diagnosed as pre diabetic. I didn't believe the dr so I had the glucose test done. you drink a sugary drink and they do four blood draws ofver a two hour period. well they were right. i tested at 152 - 200 is diabetic. so I decided to get my sugar down.
stopped drinking sodas and my weight dropped to 190 in six months. I had my sugar retested a few months ago (two years after the first test) and am down to 100. that's well below the high end of normal (130).
Good luck. and don't let hubbys bad eating habbits pull you back in.

I just want you to realize that it took about 10 months to put it on and it will probably take that long to take it off. That is only if you can start losing the weight right away. Most people don't start losing the weight for a while...It also takes about a year for your body to get back to it's normal self after having a baby...(Such as your hips moving that type of thing)Maybe if you get a personal trainer and a nanny you will be able to get that weight of faster but that is highly unlikely. So bare with it and just eat right and excises when you can!! It will come off eventually! Good Luck

Hi ! one of the best ways to lose pregnancy weight is breast feeding( you will lose about 400 cals/ day).
You can do 'pilates for pregnancy' at home (there is a book yoga and pilates for everyone, published by hermes house which is good). You can stay at home and look after the baby at the same time.
If you are looking for toning the body ( you need to weight train). i dont really think it's advisable at 2 months... After 6 months are over maybe you can safely go ahead .
I really dont know if diet pills are good for you either. You can get a diet calculater and body mass index calculater help you at yahoo health page. It can help you get to a certain wt in certain time, if you follow the food instructions given.
Hoping that helps.all the best!

ou know all these fast ways to lose it don't work, what it's going to take is good common sense!
1) drink lots of ice water
2) eat lots of veggies, raw is best or steamed or drink vegetable juices you make yourself.
3). put on some 2-5 lb ankle weights first thing every morning and wear them throughout the day.
4) I know it's hard to excercise, but if you leave a radio on with some lively music and dance around the house doing your work, it works.
5) lay off processed food, any food that's white or blanched, like white bread. Forget fried food, MacDonalds any fast food restaurant, they are no. # killers. Lay off chips, sweets.
6) you may gain the first few weeks, but if your consistent you will start dropping those pounds.
Good luck

You had a baby 8 weeks ago. Give your body some time to get over the pregnancy. If you are eating properly, not drinking soda or eating junk food, and doing something proactive like walking every day(good for baby too), then your weight will take care of itself.

WALKING is the safest. You might also want to try dancing! The TWIST is an old but gr8 dance. They even have those discs to help you, but you really don't need to buy one. Just crank the music! The abdominal action burns blly fat fast, as does; swimming, running, jogging and crunches... or my favorite; water aerobics! You can always walk with your baby, or dance close her or by a nursery moniter. When she gets old enough, she might want to join you! Good luck with that.

I did Aerobics in the pool and in no time was down past my pre pregancy weight - I remember buying some new jeans the week before and then a lady at the pool says you are disappearing right before our eyes. As always though breast feeding burns the calories like no other.

you have to give it time. sometimes in wt loss you hit a Plato. Its not that you aren't losing wt its that your body starts to store extra water trying to make up for the fat you lost. I am proud of you though I have had the darnedest time trying to lost my baby wt.
p.s did you gain the wt in 2 months? I think not don't be in such a rush! I know it sucks, but if you didn't gain it over night you won't lost it over night.
