My vote would be with The Supremes. They broke not only gender barriers, but race barriers. They were talented entertainers who put out many classic pop songs.

Fanny - they were ace musicians & songwriters, could take a pop tune like "Ain't That Peculiar" and do a wonderful version of it & yet jam with the best of them (this was the early 70's). Fanny's problem was that they came along too early when the average rock fan just couldn't handle women actually playing their own instruments!

Not personal opinion but reckon it has to be the Spice Girls!
Reason - the did have pretty much world domination - and they are an English group! ( Easy to be big from USA if have the backing and wads of money invested in the band.)

Hole - there the nearest to a decent girl group that I could think of. I know their not pop but I can't stand pop music :-)

The Shrillelles. They launched the career of Carole King and mad a fortune for the record companies. They are still together and they are still singing and I take my hat off to them
The Supremes. They were electric

well my first choice would be the dixie chicks, some people might consider there music to be country but i think its just as much pop. other than that i would say the bangles, just because suzanne hoffs was so hot

The Go Go Girls. All were teens and sounded good. That was in the 80's.

a girl band would be a band (where the members play the instruments) comprised only of girls......so....maybe L7?
