i need to repair an enamal coated headphone wire. i heard that i can just cut the wire on both sides, make a bead solder, and stick both ends in. it is supposed to melt the rubber installation and fuse the two wires together like new. will that work?

You could solder them together and if the wires are still exposed use 100% silicone to seal them.
It may not be that sturdy of a connection though.

Wiznit has a point, but from experience, It should work just fine. I'm a painting contractor and have had this happen to me soooooo many times. You should be in good shape with what you have in mind. Hope this helps. Ciao.
