100% of the Italian-Americans I know and have encountered where I live are extremely prejuidiced against Blacks & Hispanics. I have never encountered another ethnic group who has behaved in such a fashion. Does anyone know why specifically this is?

Uh, no, I didn't use "one single person" as my sample. Try like at least 20 people who live in this town. This does not even include my husband's whole family (my husband excluded). These people even use the word *niXXer* at the Christmas dinner table.

I think racist people exist all over the world. You seem to be in an area where one group is more racist than other groups. If you moved to another town, state or country, I'm sure that there would be another group that would be racist. Maybe these people think they are "right" because they all grew up with the same stereotypes. Maybe these people don't even realize what they are saying is politically incorrect and doesn't have an ounce of truth in it. If you can, without putting yourself in any danger, ask them why they use the racist language and if they indeed understand that what they are saying can be interpreted as offensive even if the person hearing it isn't black or hispanic. The fact that you realize what they are saying is stereotypical prejudicial should make you feel good that you are more enlightened than them.

There is a big difference between US Italians to Italians from Italy. My family on one side is 3rd generation Italian American. The other is from Italy. The Italians from Europe are open & many speak more than one language incld Spanish. Italians from the parts of NY, Mass. & older generations seem a bit closed minded from politics to everything else. Yet you'll see many marrying Italian or Latins because of the similarities in cultures. Both cultures are very similar. I have to say its ignorance look up who Italy belonged too back in the late 1800s to 1900s? Anyway I am fortunate enough to have a balance & the more languages you speak the better. To believe one culture is the supreme is the same crazy mentality Hitler had & where did that get him! Grow up people we are in 2014 go to Europe the average person speaks at least 2 languages.

there are some racists clone of in each united states, yet you won't be able to generalize. I stay in a medium length city interior the north, in between the parts considered maximum racist in italy, and yet i have considered many mixed couples, there have been overseas/black youthful toddlers in my college and they'd pals clone of anybody else so it truly is truly no longer honest to label an finished inhabitants as racist. also, you should think about that mass immigration in Italy is a few thing present day, international places like France uk or Germany have an prolonged adventure with that and bigger acceptable immigration guidelines. as an instance, if an immigrant is stuck stealing the following and is compelled to leave the country ninety 5% of the circumstances no one truly checks that he extremely leaves italy, and he merely strikes to a unique city. This arises a experience of lack of self belief in some those who ought to look more advantageous suspicious.

Its not only Italian -Americans.
Every racist was taught by parents and peers to be racist.
You learn what you hear over and over again .There could be no truth to what is being said ,but you believe it to be true .The statement you made was also a racist statement. There are many people who are tolerant of all races and some become racist because of where they live .It is all due to the kind of person you are ,where you are from and how you were brought up .
With time maybe we can learn to accept one another before we do each other in .

Your all being racist in your accusations of racism. We just would rather be amoungst our own kind. We came here like everyone else out of want for more money. Its a criminal state from its foundation and you all are harping on US for our nepatism. There are quite a few other ethnicities who are just the same and some that control everthing and lie to your faces about it. At least you know where you stand with Central Europeans and our disapora. I guess anti racist is codeword for anti white

Sorry to have to tell you but the Italian-Americans you are mixing round with come from an ignorant arable people who have a slave mentality. I've met them too and they are not only Italian-Americans. Keep away they are a danger to themselves.
Having said that, Italian people are so great, it's the ones that HAD to leave that has this unsociable attitude. Sad really

I think that's strange as we see Italians and Hispanics as the same. (Basically and with a few exceptions.) Perhaps that's what they are afraid of? Being put in the same category as Hispanics?
I don't think 100% of the Italian-Americans are racist but the ones that I have talked to has had the attitude that they are "better" than others that I consider just as coloured as they are.

Utica NY has been destroyed by the Italian Americans who are excessively corrupt and racist. It is rated as one of the worst places to live because of their dirty ways.
