I had that problem with my last two babies. I was very physically ill with the first one I had the problem with though, and with the last baby, I was pumping at school, pumping wherever I could, drinking lots of soy milk and water, nothing seemed to help.
My first child I could do it with ease for nine months, the one after had some trouble but I thought it was related to something else, not my inability to feed him. He wanted to eat all the time, but then he would taste it and wouldn't.

The same thing happened to me. My boys are 2 1/2 years old and 14 months old now, so it's been a while, but I tried (in vain) with both of them for about two months, to no avail. 0 It got to the point where I was supplementing with formula more than I was giving them breast milk, so I just switched them. I also found out after the fact that a medication I take for seizures isn't safe for breastfeeding, so this may possibly have had something to do with the supply. I don't know. Are you taking any prescription drugs (other than the Reglan)? I certainly don't profess to be an expert, but it seems that some medications might interfere with milk supply.
I did the same things you are trying--contacted the breastfeeding consultant at the hospital (more times than I care to count!), La Leche League, took Reglan, pumped, didn't pump, etc. and nothing worked. I'm not sure if it's related or not, but I had surgery on my stomach several years ago, so I think this might be why. My mom wasn't able to breastfeed any of her kids, either, for the same reason (low milk supply), so maybe it's hereditary? I don't know.
I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you--just wanted to let you know you're not alone.

I have an 11 months old girl. I could breastfeed her maybe for the first three weeks. Just like you, I did try everything. Finally I realized that I should ENJOY feeding her and not be stressed out about it. That way we can build a great relationship!!! We switched to formula and that choice made us both a lot happier. I do believe that breast milk is the best thing for a baby, but note that my daughter has never been sick yet, not even with a minor cold. Good luck to you!

It can be difficult to get enough milk especially if the baby didn't breastfeed enough right at the start--the first week is essential to making sure your milk production is good enough. Pumping is good but also try to encourage your child to nurse before offering him or her the bottle--infants are most efficent at extracting milk! Fenungreek might help--I have some that I make tea with that is delicious!
It can be a lot of work--you have to empty your breasts every 3-4 hours, everyday, in order to get enough milk. Even if you don't make enough milk you can supplement nursing with formula (they don't have to be mutually exclusive), or comfort nurse after feeding baby.
Even if you can't breastfeed you have not failed as a mother--sometimes it can be hard to correct such problems after they start!
Best of luck!

Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle herbs work really well to increase milk supply (health food store). Switch nursing, nurse on one side for 5 minutes, then switch and the same until done feeding. Eat well and drink LOADS of water. Hope something helps, if it doesn't then as long as you tried your best, the baby will thank you, and formula will provide the nutrients he/she needs. Good Luck !

Yes I have been there done that both my kids. The major problem for me wasn't that i couldn't breastfeed was that my kids are manic eaters so when they are hungry it is feed me now sort of thing. It is heart breaking to find out in the end that you have to bottle feed. The way I looked at it though to help me through it (because i had to have my daughter by c-section and didn't get to go through natural birth like i did with my son.) As long as my child is healthy then I am ok. It takes time to get used to but I wish you all of luck!

i tried really hard to breastfeed but never produced any milk either, My first child it was really bad, it made me sad, but i learned that bottle feeding is good to, you can still bond with your baby. A lot of it is eye contact and the way you touch and hold and talk to your infant that really helps in the bonding. I wish that i was able to have breast feed but never did produce and i even had three children but they turned out just as healthy and happy. good luck and keep trying but remember if it doesnt happen formula is a good source for them to.

Have you tried fenugreek? It's an herb that you can get in capsule form at health food stores. It helped me.
