wow......I just thought it was someone with a really strong southern accent trying to order "tea" in France. *shrugs*

The word continues to confuse me. I always thought it meant a cup of coffee you drink in the afternoon. Then I saw this Breve Latte and I figured--breve brief small--small cup of coffee drink in the afternoon. I ordered it a couple afternoons a week from the same Barista at Starbucks.
So one morning I go in and I get to the front of the line and my Barista goes, "You probably want a Grande Breve Latte."
And I am like, "Huh? How can I get a large/small cup of coffee in the late afternoon when it's 7 am? That's just silly."
Looking at the long line behind me who would be trying to make the 7:15 he said, "I suggest you go to the Starbucks at the Barnes and Noble where they have time and books to help you with you coffee illiteracy." Then he gave me the cup of coffee. I didn't have to pay.
No I go to Confucius's Cup. I figure if you need enlightenment you go straight the Buddha. They don't have latte breve on the menu. Their motto is, "Tell us what you want and we will make it." So I just drive up and say "Can you froth me some half and half and put a couple shots of that fast coffee--you know the expresso, in it. Throw some equal in it, cause I am dragging and could use the sugar rush. "
It's a tastey drink, and they are so happy there, they are always laughing when I pick up my order. Buddha is all about joy.

Latte is French for "Froth" in the same way that Muesli is Swiss for "Sawdust". Neither nation can really believe we haven't worked this out yet.
