ethnocentrism is a major cause of wars nowadays. Bosnia 1990s is one major example, then Kosovo 1998. Sri Lanka now and for much of past 20 years. Somalia. Sierra Leone and Liberia. It's part of the problems in Iraq and in Chechnya too.

Malaysia... mercifully not, ethnicity has been much better handled there than in most countries. Since independence, everybody has become much better off, and 'affirmative action' in favour of the Malays has not prevented other groups from prospering.
