I had also used rugs over the tile, but the cold still radiates through. Now, I want to place down wood flooring. I was suggested to place down 30 pound tar paper and place the lamiante floor on top. Any ideas?? Also, my area gets very moist, somebody suggested to go with bamboo flooring.

It's not that complicated; You need something non-conductive between the wood and floor.Usually laminate kits come with either a foam backing or one can be purchased. In ether case a foam backing is required and both foam and wood are non-conductive.

If you want to invest the capital, you might look into radiant heating, It uses capillaries to distribute hot water underneath your floor. It is a great system because it heats the room evenly and the warmest are is closer to the floor.

I you're not into all that, you can just put down some insulation before you lay down the wood floor. I wood :p reccomend bamboo floors as well because they are beautiful and bamboo is technically a grass, so it grows back much faster than the very rare tree.

Radiant heat for a warm floor is a good way to go, their is also electric cables , but you could just open a duct in the crawl space under the floor. Or as I do ware some warm slippers.

Buy large rugs that cover most of the area. Short naps work best over concrete because the hard surface will wear out sooner.
