Does Bush want to whisk any American he claims is a terrorist off the streets and hold them in Guantonomo without hearing or trial forever.

Can they hold an American in Gitmo without trial forever and just claim that he's not an American? If you don't ever get a trial, how can you even show that you are an American? Is this a little bit freaky to you? Wasn't it these very liberties (most specifically, freedom from an overbearing government) that our soldiers have fought and died for in all the previous wars we fought?

Every empire in human history has a similar dilemma just before it collapses into itself to make way for the new world power to bump it off it's place. The thing that separated the American Empire from other historic empires was that we passed through the individual phases a lot quicker than other empire in history.
We will be short-lived spawned in ignorance we cannot branch out from it is sad but true. As for your question yes they can and probably will do that with absolute power comes absolute corruption. The constitution has not been truly applied. Freedom of speech is an implication that stands true only if you can't prove what you are saying or if it doesn't disrupt or pertain to the inner workings of our government. So if you can prove the corruptibility of our government or can expose it's inner working and/or it's motives, you have committed treason your rights will be revoked and you will disappear or will be discredited with drastic measures and consequences. If you speak with no tangible evidence of what you say, you are in the clear. Essentially as long as you speak in ignorance you don't pose a threat and you get to go on believing that principles and guidelines of our constitution are actually being applied. So if you speak in ignorance you live in ignorance if you speak in an educated fashion you get educated on the reality of the American way.

I'm in favor of whatever it take to win the war, even if it means sending some American sleepers to club Gitmo to receive their free Qurans, pastries, La-Z-Boys, and medical care. If you are afraid of being detained, you must be doing something wrong. I never hear liberals complaining about terrorists, only the government, which makes me believe that they are parroting Jihadist propaganda.

Bush does not consider Americans as terrorists so if you are an American you may relax, It is only Asians/Arabs who should bother about the new law and going to Gutmo. What I said is a fact. You just have to watch at the American airports how they separate Asians from Americans(mostly whites) and how they frisk them after taking out their clothes and shoes. For them all in coming Asians/Arabs (except few Arabs with petro Dollars) are considered terrorists.

Boy, you got that right. The thing is, they're building as many as 800 internment camps right here in the U.S. Under the Patriot Act, virtually anyone can be declared a terrorist, for virtually any reason. They can be detained indefinitely without trial. Look out, here comes the New World Order fascist police state.

Of course - that's the whole point of the patriot act - to imprison patriots.
Did you know that 600 prison camps have been built around America, and are witing to be filled as soon as Bush declares martial law, as a result of his next 9/11 type escapade

Wait, you serious? They can hold them forever without trial. Is that actually what the law says? I would love to see it

More worryingly, can he detain terrorists in such a way that AREN'T American. Can USA decide that I am a terrorist and then zip me away to a detention center and keep me there without a trial for the rest of my life? I wasn't even ALLOWED to vote in USA, so why should I be put at risk?

American and Terrorist are two seperate entities......You can be a sleeper terrorist and be a qualified American.....a Terrorist is not just an arab born or arab descent......narrowminded thinking is not what you should be doing right now....open your mind......

This country makes laws to suit it's needs, and that don't apply to everyone else. For some reason many citizens just go along with it

If you can be designated an enemy combatant, it's off to Gitmo for you
