when reference is made to a pitch being "flat", is the implication as simple as to say that the pitch is easy to bat on; or literally that the pitch is relatively flat ie. devoid of any sporadic bumps and dents that might convey uneven, unpredictable bounce?
anyway what makes a pitch easy to bat on? i'd appreciate informed answers

you say flat pitches hardly bounce... how should that help a batsman? in fact as it happens in the recent dlf cup in malaysia, players like sehwag, dhoni were outdone by deliveries that hardly bounced...
