If ur charging it through ur computer it is normal. I don't like to charge that way because ur basically guessing when the ipod is recharged. I bought an adapter from Apple for $29.00 that plugs directly into an outlet. The ipod will then display a battery that isn't fully charged. When fully charged it displays a charged battery.

The first charge takes longer. If you are charging it off of your computer, go to iTunes and press the eject button next to the iPod name. This will allow you to safely disconnect the iPod. That "do not disconnect" message will go away.
iPods are the best. You are going to love it.

Yes. If the icon in the corner is of a little plug thing, then click the disconnect iPod on iTunes thats next to the iPod icon on the menu, and then you can disconnect it.

No. They usually take up to four hours to charge when completly dead. Go to itunes support at the apple site. There is a lot of info on this.

You know the red button on top of the ipod that you can slide to "red" so the buttons don't work. I heard it won't charge if it's set to red.
Good luck and I hope this helps!
