It's hard to tell which NBA player is the best! Because all the great basketball players in history were the best in 'their' own time!!! It all depends on the rules and regulations they had in that specific generation! There was a time where the nba didn't have a three-point line, and there was a time where the posts could stay in the the lane(paint) as long as they wanted to. Making it harder for the offense to drive on a zone defense! Chamberlain, Jordan, Dr. J, Larry Bird, Pete Maravich, and Magic were all the best in their time, but if they were all playing today, their ability would probably change becouse everything is different! It's like picking whos the greatest athlete ever, you cant measure that because you can't tell if Jordan is a good football player or if Troy Aikmen is a good soccer player!

peace..

There should only really be 2 players names metioned, Jordan and chamberlain. Wilt averaged a triple double over his career, that is unprecidented, and will NEVER be repeated. However, Jordan was the first of the new bread of players, Guards were never selected as building blocks of a team, always centres. Jordan played in an era of highly tuned, professional athlethes, Chamberlain did not, he was just one of the first seven footers, and therefore teams could not cope with him. There are many many strings to this debate, but the only way to solve it woudl be to imagine 5 jordan's Vs 5 chamberlains... no contest Jordan hands down. A ruthless, heartless athlete.

The most marketed sports figures in history-Michael Jeffrey Jordan. "Air Jordan" and his Airness(leaping ability, vividly illustrated by dunking from the foul line and other feats) would remain in hearts of millions.
