as some of the above answers...the raquets, the ball / shuttlecock or birdie, the counting points, rules are all different.
In badminton, the points starts from 0 and then1,2,3,4...up to 15 or 21 according to the tournament and you could only earn your points when you are serving, not at others serves like in tennis. The shuttlecock cannot touch the floor..then you loss your service if you are serving or the other get the point if they are serving.

Badminton is usually an indoor sport that use smaller rackets and shuttlecock as balls. The dimensions of the court is smaller than the tennis court and the net doesn't touch the ground. It is a lighter sport that doesn't recquire as much power as you need to hit the tennis ball. It is only played on one surface while tennis is played on hard, clay and grass courts. The objective of the game is not letting the shuttlecock hit the floor. In tennis you have to wait for the ball to bounce only once before you can hit it. The scoring system is also very different badminton is using a 21-point(first to reach 21 points with a two-point difference) scoring system usually best of three games. In tennis they use a scoring system that you need to win 4 pts. to win a game and six games to win a set. If it gets to 5-all then whoever reaches seven first will win the set, if it gets to 6-all a 7pt. tie break will take place(first to reach 7 pts. with a difference of 2) wins the set

while both sports require great agility, tennis also requires arm strength. there is more running involved, as well, since tennis utilizes a ball, which bounces.
on the other hand, the biggest challenge in playing badminton is wind velocity. A birdie is used in this game, rather than a ball, and the birdie is very light
i played tournament badminton in high school, and became quite good. I tried to learn tennis in my early thirties, and could not keep up,,, all that chasing of the ball!!! lol

Badminton, you will play with a shuttle, it looks like a half rubber ball attached to plastic wings. And tennis is played with a green or yellow fuzzy ball. The rules are totally different. I prefer to play badminton.

Badminton is played with a smaller raquet and with a "birdie" and it can never hit the ground.
Tennis is played with a regular raquet with a tennis ball and it is allowed to hit the ground.
