petrol working in a diesel engine .
diesel engine is a 2 stroke engine, where the compressible volume is less and one stroke will take care of compression and 2nd stroke will take care of ignition of diesel and the piston inside the cylinder rises up and rotates the wheel.
petrol has greater compressability than diesel and cannot be loaded and run the diesel engine .
petrol can be used in 2 stroke engines also provided the engine, piston -barrell volume is designed for petrol.
also petrol can efficiently run in a 4 stroke engine, normally even in petrol 2 stroke engines petrol is mixed with engine oil and used to work in the engine.

No. The petrol ignites much too quickly and causes severe detonation inside the diesel engine. Detonation occurs when the the air and fuel mixture ignites too early and the piston is still moving upward in the cylinder.

Diesel will not run at all in a petrol engine because the spark will not ignite it without petrol present to start the combustion process.

When mixed, the petrol engine will run very poorly and smoke excessively due to the incomplete combustion of the diesel.
The diesel engine will also run poorly and detonate, possibly causing severe engine damage.

Each engine is specifically engineered to run on a certain type of fuel. The diesel engine, for instance, compresses the air and fuel mixture at a ratio of up to 20:1, while the petrol engine typically is less than 10:1, or about half the cylinder pressure.

Your question is unclear.

If you mean, "Can a petrol engine run on diesel fuel?", the answer is no. A petrol engine works by igniting a mixture of fuel and air with a spark on every combustion stroke. A diesel engine works by using the heat generated by the compression of the fuel/air mixture itself to cause ignition. The petroleum fractions used in diesel fuel are not volatile (flammable) enough to be ignited by the ignition system of a petrol engine.

Yes . put an petrol engine on a diesel engine . it will work!
may be yoiu want to knw if a petrol engine work with deisel. It can work with minor alteration in th eignition mechanism and fuel pump.he diesel engine does not require a spark plug and the fuel inside the engine gets ignited by the temperature developed by pressure .
Diesel engines also work with a mixture of vegetable oil without any alteration. I have seen a friend in the US running his car with a mixture of diesel and vegetable oils and he said that he has not done any alteration to this engine.

It depends on what work you want petrol engine to do on diesel engine. The petrol engine can run a cam shaft and the shaft can be equipped with punching, hammering pokers which can travel in a guide you set up. Then petrol engine can work on diesel engine by punching it. Also iv petrol engine is operating some motor vehicle then petrol engine can work on diesel engine by pushing it across the ground. I think this answers your stupid question.

As far as I know, the 2 engines work differently. It's my understanding that the diesel engine combusts due to compression, the petrol engine combusts because of the spark plug igniting the gas/air mixture. I DO know however that with a few minor changes (i.e, changing the intake manifold and pretty much everything above it) that you can use a petrol engine to burn propane.

I think it burns too hot and has a tendency to detonate too early on the combustion stroke, it also doesn't provide the same lubrication

if your question was can a gasoline engine work as a diesel , the answer is no. The compression ratio is way to low. Diesel's detonate by compresion,, like 20:1 or so. Most Gas engines use a 9:1 ratio, on average. that's the main diff, many others, also.

You could probably mix the two, it will work but is not good for the motor, I ran a petrol motor on kerosene for a short time, it did not run very well, but I was able to drive to a petrol station, you could probably run a motor on paraffin wax if you heated it to the point where it produces a vapour, cars have been known to run on charcoal, so it is just a matter of how you view a hydrocarbon.
