I so agree with you. It is better to claim the people you know rather then believing anyone on the Internet to be who they claim to be. The sad part is when some of these sickos hoodwink teenagers who are naive and innocent. I am hoping that some day the Internet will become a safer place but have no clue how that can be accomplished. In the meantime I hope that parents are keeping an eye on their kids and making sure they are visiting only good sites.

I actually find that people are MORE honest on the internet. I learn so much about a person by chatting with them, or reading the questions they answered on Yahoo Answers. So much more than just meeting them at the cafeteria or dancing with them. You can even tell what they look like if you pay attention what they say about themselves. You can also ask for photos of course.
It is so much better on the internet that when I meet someone in the real world, I sometimes ask if they have a Yahoo opr facebook profile, so I can learn about them. Real world is not good even for apperance, because people manipulate their apperance with clothes and make up. But seeing a dozen pictures of someone in various places from home to beach, you know them!!!!!!!!!!!

Call me nieve but I work on the theory that I am completely honest with everyone I chat to online, and I take it for granted that they are honest with me.
I have met a few friends that I chat with online and they were who they said they were, and in fact we ara all still good friend after 4 years. We try and visit each other a few times a year.

That happens A LOT. Usually if a person is real, they have more than 5 pictures to send you......A real person has several pictures of them doing different things at different years. A real person also will give you their HOME phone and their last name if they really trust you. Also be careful with married guys pretending they are single....If they cannot give you a home phone that's the first sign they are married......

I really don't care too much. I've met a few people from the internet, but they all had a common interest and we met at concerts, so they really couldn't fake their identities, their personalities maybe, but I've only spent several hours with them at a time and they never didn't act like the person I met on the web.

yes it bothers me, I only picture a ugly person on the other side, while chatting. I Know most only say what you want them to say, not from their own thoughts. my friend chat to a guy who said he had done every career, when he said he was a doctor, she knew he was full of it. She just stop chatting.Watch out to who your chatting with-----
