It's terrible isn't it? They are very expensive and have a limited life span.
If you think it's expensive for men check out the womens models. I believe they are the same things but with sparkles added in and produced in a garish "girly" colour.
The adverts all sound like we will have never bring out our inner goddess(what ever) if we don't have a vibrating pink thingy to run over our legs. They are preying on our darkest fears of being excluded hairy little monkey girls.
One tip for preserving the life of your blade is to dry it off after every use. It sucks though doesn't it that it costs so much for something that we use for hygiene.

They will charge what the market will pay. Consider that people shaved just fine using straight razors for years. Why did they stop? Because companies introduced products that eliminated the sharpening process. The razors we have today are simply a byproduct. You and everyone else has choices, but they are pretty hairy.

Goatboy, how dare you blaspheme against the power of
the Almighty Marketers in this manner?! Don't you know they're not selling "shaving razors" any more? They're selling hypoallergenic, pre-softening, post-mosturising, uber-bladed, multi-directional shaving SYSTEMS, with the turbo power of a small AA battery, and the fusion of blades and guides and chemically impregnated pads. This is not just "shaving," this is facial art, my friend, and it is the way of the future...

Be afraid...be very afraid.

When they actually come with the free woman to kiss your face after you've used them (as shown in all the adverts), then they might be worth the cost. Till then, come join us in the hippy beardy forest, or they'll keep charging you for this nonsense...

The next one will be called the MK 50 Mask from Gillette. It will be shaped like a Hockey mask and have 50 'longer-lasting', rotating blades, that lift as they cut. You will cut shaving times down to a few seconds by just holding the mask against your entire face. Should I patent this before Gillette's marketing people get hold of it!... It should make a fortune too..All those gullible kn*b-heads who buy these things because they have more blades or vibrate or squirt shave gel at you......You know..You & Me!

The price will continue increasing until the demand drops.
The reason for the blades not lasting is down to the use of a softer metal for the blades to allow for more flexibility, because of the degree of angle on the blade cutting edge when it hits the hairs on your face it puts an indentation in the cutting edge and blunts it at that point. (look at a used blade under a microscope and see) When you have used it a couple of times the cutting edge may only have 5% of the original length that is capable of cutting the hairs through and not pulling them out.

They are just rip offs just like everything else. I bought a new razor last week as my old one was knackered, and the blade is ruined after less than a week. What are these people playing at?

When they get to 100 blades (soon, I think) they will have to be more than a twenty spot, because the handle will have to be made from a very strong metal, and someone has to pay the two bodybuilders it takes to lift it and help you shave every morning.

Just remember, most shaving razors have more bades than a Samuri sword, and in the wrong hands can be even more dangerous!!!!

By the year 2019 razors will have so many blades that you'll have to apply for planning permission just so you can store them!
