1. Lexus a much higher quality copy of a Mercedes that is actually intelligent to work on and service as well as fun to drive.
2. BMW and Mercedes are both has- beens with poor quality finicky engine management plastic that disintegrates very poor electronic reliability windows that don't go up or down these are nothing more than ego trips for the yacht club set.[and poor ones at that]
3. Cadillac is not a contender for this category although the r.w.d.'s are promising
i do not own any of these brands but i service and repair all 4 beands every day.

The facts are that the Lexus will OUTLAST the others--it's a far more reliable automobile. The Cadillac will be the least expensive to repair when it breaks down, but the problem is that it will break down. BMW and Mercedez are neck and neck--both are prone to electrical problems but have smooth rides and good handling, but the BMW appeals more to the younger crowd. If I were ranking them based on appearance, I would have a different list than I would if I were ranking them on performance and reliability.
The Lexus is nothing more than a souped up Toyota, so it loses points in the appearance category. But, it's the most reliable of the 5.
The Cadillac is too old-fashioned, but it's really posh and comfortable. It's too unreliable for my taste, although it's fast.
The BMW is stylish and trendy, with some pretty good performance options. The Mercedes is a little too old fashioned for my taste, but it's a very luxurious automobile.

The first answerer was right only that he/she misranked mercedez behind cadillac. Actually cadillac is least in the list.

Expecting a non-biased answer to this question is unrealistic. Brand loyal car owners will tell you THEIR car is the best. Personally I think the choices listed all suck. They can't haul my a** around any better than a brand new Chevrolet can. You can keep you ego machines...I'll keep my Chevys.
