1. Why would a school exhibition be necessary? Only Muggle-Born students would need the demonstration (with few exceptions) as most students are born into magic households - with either one or both parents able to do magic. Many of the teachers do give examples anyway, such as Professor Flitwick demonstrating how to do charms or Professor McGonagall doing transfiguration.

2. It seems that a person is born a witch or wizard, but others don't know it for a fact until they demonstrate their talent. While Tom Riddle's and Harry Potter's names were down at Hogwarts since their birth, it doesn't mean that all future Hogwarts students names are. Even being born into a all magic family doesn't necessarily mean that the child will have magic powers as in the case with Squibs. For example, Sirius Black's mother blasted a Squib relative off of the Black Family Tree and Marius was born to Purebloods. Also, Neville Longbottom's parents were both Purebloods and his family was concerned that he wasn't a wizard. His grandfather kept testing him by putting him in dangerous situations hoping to get him to use magic in desperation. And this wouldn't work for Muggle-born students like Hermione or the Creevy brothers either. With both parents Muggles there would be no expectation for them to be able to do magic. Besides Dumbledore said that it isn't a matter of how powerful a person's ability is, what matters is that they *have* the ability. They either do or they don't, so it would be when they demonstrate that they have it.

1. what's a school exhibition.. like a talent show or something? hahah.. they're not really supposed to do magic outside of class anyways, and they did have those dueling & apparation classes. i think the Goblet of Fire and the challenges between each different school was enough of an "exhibition" of sorts, as well as end of year O.W.L.'s and N.E.W.T. tests to see how much u've learned.

2. i think if u are born to wizard parents, u are automatically a witch or wizard.....u could still be a squib, but still of wizarding blood. if u are born of pure muggles, than u can show wizarding skills (such as hermione) and dumbledore would send a letter. but until then, she may not have had magical powers, just high capability to LEARN. as for harry and voldemort, they were on the list because of their parents, but that doesn't mean they were born to be good or bad wizards, they could've been squibs too!! :)

1). hogwarts' wish... plus since it isn't imperative that a school have an exhibition of magic, jkr must have found it unobjectionable to dispense with it and save her the added trouble of fitting extra, unimportant stuff

2). if they are born with magical powers their name is entered in the school register at the moment of their birth automatically. Dumbledore's statement that riddle's name has been down for hogwarts since birth need not necessarily mean that riddle is a special entrant. it's just that the person whom dumbledore was addressing was a muggle; similarly for harry- hagrid informs the dursleys (mugggles again) that harry's name has been down since birth.

Maybe, there isn't any school ex. as it'll be too much of a detail in the book, I mean with Harry's encounter and lessons and the ball (the Yule ball) and the tournament...aren't there enough events to know? I guess one becomes a witch/wizard according to who are his/her parents. People like Hermione may be a wizard/witch when they show magical potential. But, people like Harry or Tom Riddle a.k.a Voldemort, well, their parents are wizards/witches,right? So, do you get it?

1. I think it'd be best to ask JKR. But I personally don't think the wizards need exhibitions.

2. Remember what Hagrid told Harry when he found him? He said: 'You're a wizard.' So, I think we can assume that, once someone' name's down in the list of students of Hogwarts, he/she can be considered a wizard/witch, only that not well-trained yet.

School exhibition of magic? What do you even mean by that! Wizard schools aren't under the same expectation as mogul schools.

All main characters are at least half-blood. Meaning, at least one parent is a wizard. In fact, I think only Ron is full blood. So, you're born with the ability to do magic depending on what is in your blood...

Hogwarts' new headmaster takes bribes now to let you graduate and be a magician..his name is Setven Black..he fired Harry Potter last year because he gave low grades to the Son of magic minister Fred Richardson...things are running really bad here since death of Hagread..even the first year students are complaining from those bogarts spread everywhere in their sleaping rooms.

For your first question, I think you will need to ask JKR!

If a person is Muggle-born, they would be determined to be a witch or wizard when they show magical powers. Pure bloods are assumed to inherit their parents magical powers and so, I believe, are 'mudbloods'.

1. Good point. I would think there would be a friendly competiton to determine who was in the elite.

2. I would assume it's like sports in that you have an apitude, but it's not "official" until you have that diploma or whatever is conferred on you to make it all official
