My baby son is almost 3 months old and I'm wondering when is it safe for him to go into a public pool.

I wouldnt take him in the pool yet. The chlorine could cause a skin allergy or rash. Let him play in fresh bathwater for now and next summer take him swimming in a pool :)

It's all up to you. You'll be holding him anyway. If you want to put him in now, go ahead. My children have been in and around water since they were born practically. You also want to see how your son reacts to it. Most babies like being in the water, but some don't. you also need to make sure thetemperature of the pool is at least 65-70 degrees. Otherwise its too cold for him. But get in there andthe two of you have fun and enjoy.

If you are really unsure phone around to you local pools and they willl tell you. It is usually safe after they are a month old. This way anything in the water won't bother them that much. To avoid that just make sure after to give the baby a warm bath and wash your baby well.

Dont take him in chlorinated indoor pools. I did with my 15mth old and he developed asthma,later read that this can contribute to it. If possible go to a salt water pool ,outdoors.Good Luck.

any time you are with him and actually holding onto him.just let him feel the water dont throw him in and expect him to just start swimming.
