Which species are you talking about?

The animal that shows up the most often when one searches for 'Brazilian turtle' is the Red-foot tortoise. Tortoises DO NOT live in water.

However, Brazil is also the home of many other turtle species. Some are totally aquatic, like the sea turtles; others are mostly aquatic, like the mud turtles.

Many are semi-aquatic- living, mating, and feeding in the water, but getting out of the water routinely for sunning, finding new territories, etc.
