I'm having a student lodge at my house for 6 months. How much rent do students pay for a room in a shared house these days?

I share a student house with 4 others and we pay £875 each (quarterly). Hope that helps. Oh, you might want to know that we have double rooms. Also, the rent doesn't include bills - we sort that out between us. Anything else you want to know, just ask!

The "going rate" for accommodation will be influenced by many factors. Location is probably the most important. You may be able to get a feel for what is normal for your area by surveying letting agents and estate agents window adverts.

Having determined the base rate for your area, you may want to make adjustments for extras, such as power, telephone and internet access (but beware, the telephone could be very expensive).

If it is any help, three immediate family members are paying between £60 and £100 per week each (different locations, different levels of access to services).

The average going rate in Portsmouth is from about £45 per week for a room in a shared house.

Depends on the security and what services you get, bills included, etc. I paid £25 per week with no bills included (except water and council tax), just the room. Same thing is probably about £35-40 per week these days.

Depends where you live. I'm in Bath and I pay my my live-in landlady £250 a month excluding bills. But in London it's double that. In Bracknell it's around £350, and in Reading £400.

Search for rented accomodation websites for your area. You'll get a good idea then.

Of course it depends where you live - in Birmingham you're probably looking at around £50 a week each for a four person house with four people, but in the cheaper parts of Birmingham it might be £30ish. Bills extra!
