There are 3 routes into Yosemite....all accessible from Hwy. 99 which runs north and south through California.
I used mapquest.com to get directions on all 3 routes. This is what I got:
Using the South entrance (Hwy. 41) it's 186.83 miles and takes 3 hours 36 minutes.
Taking the West entrance (Hwy. 140) it's 182.12 miles and takes 3 hours 34 minutes.
The East entrance (Hwy. 120) is 247.46 miles and takes 5 hours 20 minutes.
I have lived in California all of my life and Yosemite and Monterey are both in my top 3 most beautiful places in California. (The other is Lake Tahoe). Have a great trip.

if you ever want to know how far it is to somewhere and how long it takes, go to www.aaa.com, that's tripleA insurance company and they have a trip planner service that can tell you; you just punch in your starting and ending point.
