The original was by Paul Evans and The Curls in 1959. The song was written by Paul who had formerly been part of the Kalin Twins, singing on their hit record 'When'.

Riss Chantelle formed the LANA SISTERS with Lynne Abrams and gave Dusty Springfield her first professional engagement with the trio. They signed with Fontana Records and recorded "Chimes of Arcady" & "Ring-A-My-Phone" and with their jazzy pop style, they soon made their name in live shows and TV appearances. Amongst their records was 'Seven Little Girls' but it was an English version and Paul's record had already charted.

I did and still do, love Dusty Springfield - but I wouldn't have thought anyone else would have wanted to sing that song it was SO awful - but she needed to get a break, thank goodness for the songs she sang later.

The Avons had a UK hit with it in 1959 - it got to number 3
