Hi, Yes we see the news from Iraq each day. yes we see the killing and it is terrible. I am not political..I am not a crazy religious christian either...here is my take on what's going on...

No, we are not being defeated. It takes a long time for a governmental infrastructure to be put in place.

My brother-in-law was is in the national guard and was in Iraq for one year ( recently returned) and he told us the Iraqis are glad we came in and got rid of the past regime ,yet they are frustrated that the new government can't take control and stop the violence.

I was watching the news recently about Iran and spoke to some Iranians...who despise the Iranian president. They said flat out many citizens in Iran want the US to attack Iran and get rid of their leader. I made a point of saying the Iraq war is too unpopular for this action and did not think my country would commit to such an action.

Even when some European countries have hopes the US will take care of the Iran problem. No one seems to want to take care of the instability in Iran either. Not France and not Germany. no one will make a commitment.

No, our media does not show what happens every day unless it's bad news because of their bias against President Bush. Thankfully intelligent Americans know better, there is NOT total decay and the U.S. is NOT close to being defeated. Sorry to disappoint you! Terrorists blowing up their own people is hardly a defeat for the U.S.

There is a lot of sectarian violence in parts of Iraq (particularly Baghdad). There have not been reports of many casualties amongst foreign troops which are from a number of countries though not of course the French. Interesting that you talk about bells ringing the tune of American defeat does that speak volumes about your attitude to that great country (America) on whom we all depend for good leadership.

Yes, our media shows the misery that is prevalent in Iraq at this time. On satellite I watch news from BBC and Arab countries even -- admitedly most do not do that. Television also shows a commercial by Kurdish people thanking the USA for toppling Saddam. He, his sons and his regime were a blight on humanity. Good riddance! It is unfortunate that other nations have not seen fit to aid in the effort to stabilize Iraq while the citizens of those same nations criticize the USA. Do you have no social conscience? No concern for the innocents? It's a shame that the Islamic factions war against one another the way they do. That has happened for centuries and claimed untold millions. Maybe this could finally be stopped. Remember, it was concern for others that caused the USA to align itself with France and others already involved in WWII long before Japan attacked us. We were supplying you and others and that was a major point of contention that caused Japan to attack. Then the USA led the way in freeing your country! Then we rebuilt your country AND the countries of those whom we had defeated. AND we left you to govern yourselves and do what you want. It makes me ill to hear your sniveling now. We will do the same for Iraq given the time and I suggest that you help instead of lamenting about the possibility of the USA being defeated in Iraq (or Iran or Syria or Pakistan/Adganistan). Damn you anyhow! Your policies and 'leadership' are largely responsible for the mess that is the Mid-East. If Islam predominates in your country (a definite possibility given population demographics), you individual French idealists will be offered three choices: convert to Islam with all its harsh represiveness and medival mentality, pay such high tribute that you cannot live a normal fruitful life or DIE. That is their classic mantra. Read history. Is that the legacy you want to leave your children? Nevermind what moderate Muslems say, look at what has always been done. Take a hard look at life under the Taliban or in Iran and make certain that you like those conditions, before you give up the ideals of freedom that were born in France even before the USA was independent. I suggest that you make one of three choices for freedom: throw all your support behind this effort and get involved in making Iraq a safe and modern country under democracy, stop tearing down the one country that may be able to save Western freedom even if we must do it alone, or at least shut up and get the hell out of the way. I do add the latter in spite of my regard for freedom of speech because sometimes it is necessary to sacrifice something precious -- in this case, the freedom of negative thinking and rhetoric -- in order to later have what you desire. Ding-a-ling-a-ling!!!

How sad it is that the French have NOT helped the U.S. in Iraq. During WW2 the U.S. helped France to defeat the Germans who were occupying France, and many U.S. lives were lost to save there country. You have a graveyard in France filled with U.S. Solders who Fought for Frances freedom. At that time it was said France will never forget what the U.S. did. Hmmm I wonder?
Most French do not know what happened in the
second WW because of the age.

I guess that means you are proud to be french. The one country who really knows what cut and run means seeing as how that is all you have ever done. America will not lose the war in Iraq because we will not quit. Why don't you just take care of your own Islam problem. If you don't maybe they will do for you. Remember they want all people world wide to be Muslim if not they will behead you.

There are australians over there too, yes we know what is happening, we might not like it but we support our troops
Are the french still finding illegal immigrants at the docks and allowing them to carry on to the uk rather than deal with it themselves
Got any green peace ships in mind to blow up lately or beauitful unspoilt pacific atolls to test ur nuclear weapons on?
If the Iraqis were to win the war and get to ur border would you let them in and lay down for them like you did the germans? then expect the Brits and US to save you?

I think the media does a great job at knocking Bush, so they do anything they can to show how his policies are failures. So, we see all the bad that comes out of Iraq.

It is Bush's war-----his big push to enforce his brand of government and his Evangelical Christianity on the world. And, there is the oil issue, too.

We only have to put up with him for 2 more years. But! He can do so much more damage in that length of time. It will take decades to right all of his wrongs.

The whole world seems to hate Americans-----because of Bush. But, they should realize, we hate him just as much.

Our media are puppets over here in the USA. They are all owned by the same few people, and they are in the NeoCons 'pocket', so we only see what they want us to see not the whole truth...
