it was trend that got started in prison because the inmates didn't have clothes that fit and when they got out people started emmulating the same fashion, but it's just a "black thing" that got out of had

I assume that someone had clothes that were to large and could not afford a belt , then all of the other " FOLLOWERS " thought it was the thing to do !
I love to see these guys try to run, one hand holding up their pants is truly funny , funnier up steps !

jamies girl almost got it right, it wasnt that the clothes didnt fit, it was the fact they arent allowed to have belts cos they can use them as weapons or to hang themselves with.
So the kids doing it are emulating death row guys!!! Its scary when kids think that guys like that are hero's or worth copying!
MOst probably dont even know were it comes from they are just following fashion,come on didnt u wear some crazy **** in your day? I know I did in my punk era

It's rebellion against authority. Sort of the same way they wear their baseball style caps backwards instead of the 'bill' in the front as it was intended to be worn.

I just thought that they were to lazy to pull them back up again and they were proud to show that they were wearing clean underwear
