Well i always lose interest when i look at the amount of work i have. So the only way i try to motivate myself is to set myself a goal. I'm currently in 12 grade and it's University for me next year. So my aim is to get a high enough score to go into University and do the course of my choice.
I am also chinese, which is somewhat normal for me to aim as high as possible. Therefore I set a goal that is way too high for me to reach but i still try to reach it because my parents love to brag about me and my sister's achievement (the pressure!!!!) haha
good luck!

Think about it this way. If you don't bother, then when you leave school your choices will be limited. I will soon be employing a person who was a straight 'A' student until exam time when he didn't bother. He is a top man with computers and has the potential to earn far more than I will ever make. But he has no motivation to "do for himself" which means until he gets some motivation he will be stuck in a 2 bedroom flat with his wife and kids, while I make best use of him. Most people say 'I wish I had done better at school' because after 30 or so they are wise enough to see that the work early on in their lives would benefit them later on. Not necessarily make them rich but they would have had more choice in their lives.

-First, ignore everyone/everything that insists you must do this or that by a certain time. Part of your resistance to homework comes from a desire to disobey instuctions.
-Set yourself a loose routine based around what you enjoy doing. For example, come home after school, go on the computer/listen to music/whatever, do a couple of hours homework, then relax. Don't over-stress yourself.
-Have friends over, and do your homework together. Even work is fun with friends around.
-If there's a subject you like doing, do a nasty piece of homework, then the nice piece. This should motivate you slightly.
-Sit down and work your timing out. I thought I was working all day, until I did some calculations. Turned out I was doing less than 2 hours a day.
-If the worst comes to worst, do your homework before school or at lunchtime. Then half the workload is already gone.
Good luck!!!!

Okay, here's the deal ....... homework is your early experience of commitment to life, the hard work that will bring rewards in time and in so many ways. You only get out of life what you put in .... homework may seem regimental and unfairly compulsory but if you stick with it, give it your best shot at all times ..... it may or may not bring you rewards now ... but it will build your commitment levels for the future and make your working life a whole lot easier as you will have acquired the underlying commitment skills. PLUS you will be better educated, learnt a lot about research skills and earn due regard from your mentors. The fact is that most kids simply 'can't be bothered' and why should you want to join them .... if you value yourself as a person and wan't to become better than them, and not just to gain brownie points from the teachers, then get your head down and just do it. Also, by doing it, you will make mistakes ... but that is your way ahead as well ... what better way in this world to learn than by making mistakes? Believe me, homework is not an imposition, it is simply there to promote the people that want to get ahead. Why join the losers eh? Good luck .... hope you become a winner!

Well, I have the same problem with doing the housework. I mean, the washing has to be done and the dinner has to be cooked - I could go on.
The point is, you know that it has to be done and you might was well get it finished sooner than later.
I think that it was Steve Davis the snooker champion that gave a wonderful insight.
He used to make his favourite sandwich and put it on the side of the snooker table. He would then only take a bite of the sandwich when he had cleared the table no matter how hungry he got or how long it took him.
If you have three lots of homework, then bring out your favourite food and put it down by your side. You can have one bite when you have finished the first lot of homework, and you can have two bites when you have finished the second lot. When you have finished it all, you can treat yourself with finishing your food and having a drink too!

just think about all your class mates who feel the same and do the same then imagine how they are going to get told off or stop in detention.
Think about what you will achieve by doing your homework you will get rewarded by the teachers this then goes on your report this then carries on until end of school/college/uni and a job. Your example of doing your homework will show how motivated, organised and practical you are good skills for the future.
Keep a good schedule time table for homework set time to do it.
When you get home chill out, read, watch a bit of television or what ever it is you do then say at such a time it will be homework and stick to that routine. At the weekend again set yourself what day and time you will do it.
Please be bothered as it will make a huge diffrence to your future

Aren't we all like that? Here are some helpfull steps to take:
• Do not leave it to the last moment - you'll regret having to do lots of work at the last moment
• Take your time - homework can be taken over several days
• Find a quiet place - with no visual distractions
• Listen to your music, noone said homework had to be boring
• Find a split between work and fun - reward your self after completing work by allowing some time to go on the interent.
• Finally - don't forgot homework does not rule you - if you have a favourite tv show, watch it, take regular breaks.

Keep repeating the following mantra:
"Would you like extra fries with that?"
That's why you do homework, so you can eventually stop repeating the above mantra.
As for my method of doing more homework, I used to always think that when I thought I was at the end "If I do an extra 15minutes, that's 15minutes I don't need to do tomorrow!"
Plus, the more homework you do, the better you get at doing it and the more pride you get in yourself and your work. There's no esteem in being dumb and staying dumb is just stupid.

I know the problem. First tell your mother to get off your back. I always resisted doing homework when my mother asked, 'Isn't it time you did your homework?'
Set yourself a target. Do you want to drop out? Do you want to scrape a living without qualifications? It may seem pointless now, but regrets last a lifetime.

One way to motivate yourself to get your homework finished and to get good grades is to think of how much you don't want to repeat that same grade in school next year. I know someone this happened to and it was devastating. All of his/her best friends were in a higher grade the next year and will graduate from high school one full year ahead of him/her. There was so much regret, but once you fail a grade, that's it! Please think about this and try harder. Good luck!
