mp3 does not have to be potrable.an example is the windows media player which is a free download from microsoft. using your computer you can put all your cd from your personal collection and rip them onto your computer hard drive. you can set the prefferences in the media player to rip the cd into mp3 format.then buy a good set of speakers and you can now listen to all your music in mp3 on your computer system.

what the first guy said sounds good, windows media player is great or itunes if your on mac, wire it up through some decent speakers maybee with an amplifier in lne and youll be sorted, i-pod has a new 80 gb mp3 player which would store a lot of albums, or ty the sony nw-a3000 ive heard its good, i have the creative zen vision m 30 gb lods a room on the player for songs at a fairl good quality for mp3, but i pod stores songs as an acc file which gives you better quality for the sam space on th eplayers hard drive. I would recomend i pod am keeping my zen but its a pain in the ***, awkward to get accesorie i need, doesnt work at all on macs and freezed on my friends pc.
Go foor an i-pod there easy to get the assecories for and seem to be fairly reliable, big improvment on what they used to be. Wish i had one !!!!!!
