The trouble with the world is not too much politics but too little.
Politics has been best defined as the art of handling conflict within a society. The trouble with most societies in the West is that the big political parties tend to line up on one side of the conflict and aren't seriously interested in trying to solve social problems in any way other than force - so the big conflicts within societies are not properly represented within the political systems. Result: unrest, rioting, terror, violence. Political action in any meaningful sense is actually passing away in the richest Western societies, like the USA and UK, and Ireland where I come from.
When we see people throwing rocks or shouting in the street about their own political ideology, it's pretty much always because the governing class has failed to give them any other outlet for their troubles. It's a sign that politics haven't been allowed to happen.
Religion - that's another story. The whole world would probably be a lot better off if the Big 3 monotheistic religions - Judaism, Christianity and Islam - had never been conceived in the first place. But what are you gonna do? As long as people are ignorant and incurious, they'll want to believe in a supreme being.
And no, if they were forgotten it wouldn't help. Whatever gets forgotten will be remembered sooner or later.

Politics will never be forgotten because money will never be forgotten, and religion will never be forgotten because those who understand the meaning, depth, and test of this life, would definitely not allow that. But IF religion was a given in everyones life and people believed in the unseen, then the politics wouldn't be an issue, things would be handled fairly, and these major corporations wouldn't let thousands of HUMANS die for their gains.

Politics were originally intended to give justice but today it has become the an obstacle to reach justice.
Religions were formed with an aim to guide people spiritually but today it is the main obstacle to reach truth.
If these two powers are eradicated the same evil will play through individuals to misguide the population.
The eradication of politics and religion must be originated within our minds with an aim to reach justice and truth.
Then the world can be safer....

Perhaps a safer, but a horribly boring world. A good dispassionate
is healthy for the mind.

No. I dont believe so.
Information, of any sort, will make us better people, what would make the world better perhaps, is not to go to extremes with this information. Best to learn & reflect.
Also, religion has bought peace to many people - never a bad thing. Its only a problem, when it does the oppisite.
Plus, you'll still have people creating bio-chemical weapons & god knows what else that may make the world just as unsafe.

If there will be no politics and religion... there will be many confusions around the world such as our existence. I there is no politics, there will be many crimes... just like the tribes. I spoke to one German girl who was also intervied by Oprah before, she said that the tribes are always killing each other in the Papua where she grew up because they envy each other and all and nothing can stop envy and revenge in their tribe because there is no politics and all. I hope this helps.

Both are systems for people to be controlled which I guess is essential. Both cause wars etc but democracy has a replacement option so I'll say retain politics with that proviso and forget about religion.

Thats very unlikely to happen, but i think it wouldn't really be safer because there are still maniacs everywhere. However, it would probably be calmer as people wouldn't be so prejudiced or worried about what the pm and parliament are going to do next.
