The war in 1950 was the Korean war.Chinese backed communists in the north of Korea were fighting against NATO backed libertarians in the south.Korea has remained a divided country to this day.

If you mean the Korean War, which was not legally a war, but is known as a "Police Action", it started on June 25th, 1950, and has left Korea divided into two countries at the 38th parallel in 1953. There is still a strong US military presence there. Approximately 50,000 Americans lost their lives there.
