Does anyone know how i can fix this problem its quite urgent and i need it fixed pronto, i don't know what happened the sound was working fine, on my computer and now it doesn.t play any sounds and it just has this message .

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly.

can anyone help me please :)

try restarting your computer. if it doesnt work, try uninstalling your existing sound card driver from device manager. restart the computer and reinstall the soun card driver, that would fix the problem. good luck!

Do step by step evaluation
1. check the coneecting cable.
2. restart
3. do sound tests
4. uninstall and reinstall etc..

run a sound device troubleshooter from control panel-> sound and audio devices

shut down your computer.
open it again.

delete all temp files in temp directory which is in windows directory.

check from desktop, remove mute check sign

check all the cables, replug them again

if possible check the sound card in its place, reinsert it.

check it out at your control panel or run a virus ,antispyware.restart. Put a firewall on your pc.

start-control panel-sounds, speech and audio devices-adjust system volume- then untick "mute"

well, you shoud check ur sound cARD, OR you should close all programs, or download a sound program, mabye your microsoft one malfunctions

you screwed something up. go to system restore and re-install

delete the system32 folder in c:\windows
