I've read that after intercourse, you should lay down with a pillow under your hips, to 'help' the sperm in order to get pregnant. Personally, I don't really think it helps at all - a) sperm are made to be good swimmers and b) think of how many people probably get pregnant in the back of a car in a rush, etc. What do you think?

That is in no way true.During the time of the month that a woman can get pregnant her vaginal discharge is wet and slippery and that's a highway for the sperm to swim in as its kinda like semen consistency and very sperm friendly...the rest of the month the discharge is thicker and drier and so the sperm have a hard time surviving in this hostile environment and cant make it into your reproductive tract. The only time this idea of laying down for 30 minutes after sex will be of any benefit is if the man has a low sperm count than standing will drain the sperm out of the vagina and it could contain the few good sperm he is producing so laying down theoretically could help.

There is no need to lay down for 30 minutes for getting pregnant.
It is good to take rest after intercourse. You feel better. Sperm don't care what you do. If it was necessary to lay down for 30 minutes after intercourse in order to get pregnant, the best way to birth control would be that people go about their normal activity after intercourse.

If this doesn't work then why after a women is artificially inseminated does the doctor have her do just that, but for longer. It just helps those sperm along, especially if you have trouble getting pregnant you dont' want gravity working against you as well LOL>

Trust me it works!!!!!!
Was told I would never have children every time I have done the pillow under, legs up keep still for 30 minutes it has got me pregnant.

Not everyone is as fertile as someone who has sex in a rush in the back seat of car....... if they are having it the back seat of car means they probably aren't being careful and shouldnt' be having sex personally!

Putting your legs up and keeping still just helps the sperm to get where its going faster and safer!

no, where did you read that garbage? Please let me know, b/c whoever wrote it a)doesn't have any kids b)never did it in the back of a car c)has no clue what they're talking about. the sperm is going to get tothe egg or it isn't. Once it's inside you its not going to come back out, or do a seesaw effect or whatever. You can get up right after having sex. My grandma had 8 kids and not once did I hear her tell me that.

Individual sperm "swim", but unless you've got the blob near your cervix, there won't be conception. Ejaculate does NOT swim, only the individual sperm within the ejaculate swim, so if his ejaculate is not where it needs to be, you aren't going to get pregnant. Laying down, with a pillow under your hips, helps the ejaculate mass slide down where it needs to be, to give the sperm a chance to impregnate.

Well i think you don't have to just lay there for 30 minutes after sex but if you can it wouldn't be such a bad idea...
