I wish Mahmoud Abbas all the luck in the world trying to form a unity government with Hamas. And this is not just for Israel's sake, but for the Palestinians as well. Its all very well for Hamas to take a no-comprise position vis-a-vis recognition of Israel, but they are up against the REALpolitiek of a worldwide community that recognises Israel and advocates a two state solution.

So, what does everyone think? Is there a solution coming soon or are we doomed to more years of conflict and hurt?

Guys. I have noticed the answers in the negative. I understand that. 2000 years of history is hard to change. But change there must be. Politics is the ART OF THE POSSIBLE! The solution will eventually come from the Palestinian people themselves who, one hopes, will see the benefits in recognising Israel.

Tinkerbell, thanks for your well-reasoned article. However, if the Palestinians continue with that attitude, it may NEVER happen. Based on all the suicide attacks, mortar bombings, stabbings perpetrated by the Pals on Israelis, there is not enough trust right now for Israelis and Pals to live together. No doubt many Pals are peaceloving, but there are enough radicals to destroy any trust right now. No, its far better to recognise Israel., have an independent Palestine with its capital in part of Jerusalem and later, as trust builds, to re-introduce Palestinians into Israel. I think its the only way. What would you suggest? Another war? Try wipe out Israel? Its not going to happen!

I hope too that Fatah and Hamas would form a unity government 'cos this is the best thing for Palestinians...But I also think that it would be a wrong thing to recognize Israel...Recognizing Israel would deny the existence of Palestinians...This would be another humiliation for the Palestinians...It would be like saying that it's OK that Israel was created on their land and Israel was justified in killing thousand of Palestinians...It's Israel who doesn't recognize the right to existence of thousand of Palestinians living in UN's refugees camp,by denying their right to come back to their land...
I don't think that Hamas will ever recognize Israel ...

U think that the Palestinians have an attitude problem?Let's not forget about the IDF who kill indiscriminately militants and civilians...And then Israel starts screaming that they are being attacked without a reason and that the Palestinians don't want peace...I do not agree with how the Palestinians have chose to fight, but since no one bothered to give them attention they think that there is no other way...

And I think it's about time to recognize that creating Israel there was a mistake...

real. with the aid of fact 2009 often is the tip of Hamas' reign of terror over Israel and Hamas' abuse of the Palestinian Arabs. Hamas intentionally places the extra youthful infants interior the line of hearth to break the Israelis will to combat. not extra! further and added Arabs are conversing up approximately Hamas and Hezbollah that they are unquestionably killing their very own infants for propaganda to make it appear like Israel is doing it. This has been a tactic of the Arabs for hundreds of years and is finally coming to gentle. with the aid of fact of this autopsies are actually not allowed!

It is that simple. But, as long as we have radicals in the world that will stop at nothing to kill the Jews, I am afraid it will be more of the same. As far as saying Ha mas cannot accept Israels existence, that is garbage ! It is as simple as saying, walk up to that fence , look across it and say "somebody does live there." Start with that and then as soon as they believe what they see, then ask, "why is that fence there?" As soon as they realize it is to protect against the radical thinking of blowing up Jews, maybe they can ask "WHY ? " It seems simple doesn't it .

Hamas cannot recognize Israel, because with that they would deny everything they stand for and slap their supporters in the face.

It would be like Bush suddenly be truthful and say he believes in Lucifer.
