While being sleep deprived, I fell asleep at the wheel and thanks to the "thuds" of the traffic cones I was running over, was awaken in time to avoid a snow covered steep, rocky cliff. My 2 babies were asleep in the back seat too. Yikes!!! While suffering from insomnia, I got out of bed to go watch t.v. in the den and tripped over my weight bench and broke my wrist. I didn't want to disturb the "sleepers" and yet they all were shocked awake by my High pitched, pain wrenched scream. Needless to say, I don't suffer from either any longer, I take a sleep aid every night to insure my a** stays in bed., Were it's SAFE. :)

The worst episodes I have with insomnia is when I was on dayshift and had to sleep at night. For some reason, once a week I was never able to fall asleep at all during my normal sleep time. I realized I'm a night owl and switched to swing shift. I was great for me, because I could stay up until sun up and then go to bed. Now, I'm on graveshift from 11PM - 7AM, and it is okay, but it seems like I sleep more hours on graves and miss out on a few things.

In the Army I slept on the ground for two weeks. That was pretty miserable. Just the extra uniforms that I brought for any kind of padding at all, and my duffle bag for a pillow. I very quickly went out and bought an old cot to take into the field with me. Cheap assed unit just didn't have anything to issue...damned National Guard! But then there was that great kegger in college, where I slept in a puddle of my own vomit. NEVER try to drink your weight in beer!
