All babies are different, No need to worry, this will happen when your baby is ready.

I have 3 children and they all done different things at different ages..

My eldest who is now 14 was lazy.. he sat by himself at 9 months and didn't walk until he was 13 months old

My daughter who is now 12 sat unaided when she was 7 months and was walking at 12 months

My youngest who is 3 was sitting at 7 months and was walking at 11 months

So no need to worry no 2 babies are the same!!!

Enjoy

Trust me when I say all babies are different. I went online checking what my baby should be doing and freaked out because he wasn't smiling when it said he should. I was so scared. I seriously thought something was wrong! Just play on the floor with her, every bit helps. She needs to have to muscle strength to be able to hold herself up. If you have a boppy then you can sit her in it on the floor while you sit or lay next to her, and make sure to give her lots of tummy time! Remember that she needs to get the muscles strong enough for every task she will do, like crawling, walking, standing, etc. Also if she is bigger than average it will take longer, she still has the same age muscles as other 6 months old, but if she is bigger then she has more to lift with those muscles.

I know my son has always loved being held around the waist and put into a standing position on my legs or in front of me while I sit on the floor. Doing this will get her pushing with her legs and you can let her bend her knees and push herself back to a full stand, that will get her leg muscles nice and strong.

Dont pay any attention to the websites telling you that your baby should sit at X month and stand at X month. Always bring it up to your doctor if you are worried, but unless there are other problems or you can see other developmental problems beyond sitting later or walking later, I wouldnt worry about it.

No way, don't be upset! Sitting up will come real soon for you. All babies are different but the average age for sitting up is about 7 mo. She may start to sit up on her own and teeter totter before then. A stable sit up is 7 months!

NO, NO AND NO. I had two children, one is now a doctor and the other is still working on her masters. Neither one sat up before 9 months! The bigger question is, does she look you in the eye and smile? Does she follow things she's interested in with her eyes? Does she grasp things with her hands? Does she interact by imitating sounds and get excited when you imitate her sounds?

As parents we worry about everything, even after the child is grown. I hope you are able to take the baby for regular checkups with a good pediatrician, if not, check out what is available through your local government agencies. The doc can tell you if there is anything to be concerned about.

Absolutely not. Dont be worried at all.

They usually start doing these things around the age of 6 months, but they only say that as a guide, ( which can make some mums worried, as it puts pressure on those who are not ).

They all do things at their own pace....Dont stress about it, she will be fine!

My "What to Expect the First Year" says that by then end of the 6th month, baby MAY be able to sit unassisted....however, when I flip the page to the next chapter (7 months) it says the same thing....my son is almost 8 months old; he hasn't been sitting very long....so if your daughter isn't sitting by then end of NEXT month, it warrants a call to the pediatrician but most likely, there is nothing wrong....we just woke up one morning to find my son sitting in his crib....so maybe when you go to pick her up from her nap she will be sitting up! :)

Don't be worried. My son started sitting up at about 6 months and was walking at 11months. Give her time and she'll get there.
