Solution? clean the mold off using bleach. then keep the area well ventilated, if problem comes up again get a plumber for an assessment, there could be a leak.
It certainly means that your wall is very humid.
Mold can grow pretty fast - and mushrooms too. Just take a walk in the woods after a rain! you'll see that overnight tons of 'shrooms have sprung!
It could also be tons of other reasons. In a bathroom, there is a natural condensation of humidity - without a very good ventilation, it is easy to get trouble growing. Do you have a window in the bathroom? in that case, do remember to keep it open often, and to always open after a shower or bath. Every time your mirror fogs up - its mold time!!!
Finally, a new house usually is more humid than an old one, because building materials are still giving off humidity (that depends on how the house is build).

Mushrooms grow from microscopic spores. The spores are released from the underside of the mushroom's cap, inside the "gills". They will look like a powdery smoke coming off of the mushroom when they are released. The spores are carried on the wind and grow when they land in soil rich in decaying organic matter.
Edible mushrooms are grown commercially by spreading spores on a suitable medium - meadow mushrooms (the classic "mushroom") grow on manure, while others, such as Japanese shiitake mushrooms, grow on logs. People drill holes into the logs, then insert a mixture containing spores into the holes. The mushrooms are then grown in a dark, damp place. They must be grown in the dark so algae won't grow and compete with the mushrooms.
Mushrooms are actually just the visible reproductive structure of the fungus, most of which is hidden underground. The fungus grows as a thread-like "mycelium" which grows into a web throughout the soil. The mycelium web can cover a very large area. Mushrooms will grow up from the mycelium each season, and often you will see an ever-widening "ring" of mushrooms growing from the mycelium, as the mushrooms move outward from the areas of soil where they have depleted the nutrients. People used to think fairies danced around the rings, so they are called "fairy rings".

So..
When you try your hand at mushroom growing yourself you know that they are both organic and that they will benefit the health of your family. In this day and age when so much of our lives seem controlled by the mechanized and the artificial, home grown mushrooms can provide a wonderful source of health building protein for your family. Best of all, this wonderful food is easy, and indeed almost effortless to grow. There are starter kits available that make the whole process extremely simple without spoiling the organic aspect of things in any way. These starter kits are an excellent way to learn the basics of growing mushrooms, and I would certainly recommend them if you have never grown mushrooms before.
This is a step by step guide you can use to start growing mushrooms at home http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=573
I hope it helps

Maybe you can shift your backyard into your bathroom, and the bathroom into the open.
You can display your mushrooms as a special technique and make a fortune with the nature lovers entrance tickets.
