DNA is a long string of nucleic acids. Repication occurs in the nucleus, and has to occur before a cell divides because both of the new cells has to have a complete set of DNA to function properly.

1) DNA is made up from DNA nuleotides that consist of a deoxyribose pentose sugar, phosphate head and nitrogenous base (joind by covalent bonds). DNA is a double helix consisting of 2 DNA chains joined by Hydrogen bonds between nitrogenous bases on each chain.

2) DNA replication: Occurs in nucleus using DNA polymerase.

3) DNA replication is vital so we can make new, identical cells.

Hope this helps!
