DO NOT DRAIN THE WATER !!!! The water is what keeps the sides of the pool from caving in. To winterize the pool first clean it thoroughly and shock it. Install a plug in the return jet. Either cover the skimmer entrance with a rubber gasket or insert a skimmer saver, both available at your pool store. Remove the pump and hoses. Clean and drain the filter including the pump impeller housing. Store the pump and filter indoors, preferably someplace that will not freeze. Remove the ladder. Place an air pillow of the proper size in the middle of the pool. I tie mine to opposite sides to keep it centered. Cover the pool with a winter cover. Experiment with different ways to tie down the cover. Some people use the cable and ratchet system that comes with it. I use bungee chords attached to either the buttresses or to cinder blocks I lay alongside the pool. It is normal for water to collect in the top around the pillow like a little moat. Drain the water off whenever you can or it will build up and tear the cover. It will also push down and force the pool water over the rail and out. Come spring you'll have to add more water.

keep the water in the pool or it will fall apart! ur local pool and spa company can sell u the correct chemical that will allow u to winterize the water.....

we put a 3 ft beach ball( kind u dont have to blow up) under a larage tarp and secure the tarp to the sides of the pool for water and snow run off..

most of all, u should have a cut off valve for the intake and discharge at the pump...cut those off and drain the water out of the pump and do not screw the lid on tight....

TIP: wen putting the lid back on over winter, put a little K Y Jelly around the lid to prevent freez up.......

Drain the water out of it and cover it with a tarpaulin.
