Exactly WHY it has to be used AT ALL amazes me - whatever it means, you don't go round suddenly saying "laugh out loud" in the middle of a conversation or at the end of a sentence, and most people don't usually say ANY of these childish little text inventions, and I certainly would never dream of using any of these silly abbreviations on here - it's not as though we're charged by the letter is it, so the use of them can only possibly indicate one thing on the part of the user, and we all know what that is.

Never heard of it actually meaning anything other than someones ring finger getting over zealous and typing an extra O. And then they were just to lazy to backspace and get rid of it. You know those long 3 letter 'words' so hard to type and spell correctly.

Zeitgeist literraly mean spirit of the times, it's usually used in history to describe the feeling that existed amongst people during a specific time period. For example, after 9/11 in the U.S. the Zeitgeist was one of sorrow, anger and fear.
