If you are on broadband and this is a dial up connection symbol for AOL and you do not have an account with them then there is no need to worry. AOL IS easy to remove but use the uninstall feature of the software. Like many applications or software you may get remnants left in the registry but this is not a real cause for concern. As for the idiots using this as a forum to knock AOL you may not realise that every ISP has its plus and minus features for instance BT is capped and is prone to throttling certain ports. The main thing is not to wprry about it, if you are not using a 56k modem anymore make sure it is not connected to your phone line or you can have it removed

as i think you have gathered aol is a pain in the ***!!! forget the add/remove programs, do that last. Just go into your C drive and delete EVERY thing that has aol shite in the title. This will take some time as it gets everywhere. just search every folder, program files, windows 000, temp everything. Or if you don't feel confident doing that and you are just worried about aol dialling up and you being charged, you can always go to internet options and select the never dial a connection option. You are now an official member of the "aol is satan" club please wear your badge with pride

You can't be charged for a service you do not subscribe to, you have to be a member to access their services. Some ISP's are intrusive the way they install themselves and not just AOL. People should do a comparison on a reputable site before knocking any one ISP through blind ignorance like some sheep. TalkTalk poor service impossible to get a migration code, Tiscali/wanadoo drops connnections lots of errors and you could go on there isn't one perfect service they all rely on BT

Delete any reference to AOL on your computer.....try Network Connections first, then do a Search. If your dial up modem is not connected to the telephone socket, it won't be able to dial out.

AOL is basically a virus. You must have had it installed at some point. You'll have to uninstall. Alternatively buy another computer and NEVER EVER install AOL again. Its the computer worlds mark of the beast.
