Go to a pet store and purchase one of the packages of chemicals designed to neutralize urine - even if it's not canine urine. Follow the instructions on the type you purchase. You will not actually be able to remove the urine, but you will be able to neutralize it, and eliminate the odor. It can be tough with a mattress because they are so thick with padding and interior materials. The mattress will need to air for some time, but if you have a dehumidifier you can put it into the room and it will help. This is a relatively common occurrence for dog owners…

SPOT SHOT! (The one in the can, haven't tried the one in the bottle) After you spray that and blot it with a paper towel, you will probably want to just maybe mix about 2 tbsps of laundry detergent with a cup of water and then blot - makes it smell fresh and clean, since spot shot is definately very chemical-smelling.
I swear by that stuff for everything, its becoming one of my universal products, right up there with Windex. It really does work. Gets rid of the smell for good AND the stains (even if they are older from previous attempts to remove them!) :)
And then tomorrow, i'd go and buy a waterproof mattress cover! A good thing to have even without kids or pets because things spill all the time.

There are neutralizers as mentioned before, don't think the mattress is ruined.
Then get at an allergy store or online a dust mite-proof cover that is also water repellant. Our 5 year old still wets the bed and this technique is a lifesaver. They run about 129$ for a queen.

Sorry but you are going to have to buy a new mattress. You may want to grab a waterproof mattress pad too!
