I was just thinking about who was the greatest influence (in the realm of standard education) on me, was wondering if anyone else has ever had the same thought.
For me, it was Mr. Brisbin. Grade 11/12 Geography/Travel & Tourism. Probably the best course I've ever taken in any school I've enrolled in.
Also, Mr. Fuentes of Grade 9 Geography.
These are probably the only teachers I remember and, most likely, ever will.

The teacher who had the most influence on my education was a Miss Lake. She taught French and Scripture. I still know the things she taught us - and if I learned, then that in itself proves that she was a good teacher! She was a gentle person, never shouted (this was a grammar school in the 1950s; no real need for anyone to shout at us!), and yes, I suppose she was my favourite teacher.
My very least favourite teacher was when I was quite small, in the 1940s. His name was Mr Marsden. One day I obviously did something I shouldn't and this worm caned the back of my legs, giving me a long thin bruise down my calf to my ankle. What kind of skunk would do that to a little girl?

Mr. Foley, 9th grade Geography. He was a happy, realistic, down to earth soul that didn't seem like a teacher, but seemed as a "real" person to me. You have to understand that teachers were a part of that unreal world for us back then. You know like: Dr.s, cops, nuns, priests, etc. All those in the catagory of "elder and more knowledgable" and a total wonder to us kids just starting to come into the world on our own. When I finally got to that point of being "knowledgable and the elder one." I suddenly discovered that the whole lot of those I thought were better than me, smarter, and always to be respected, boy did I ever get let down. They're no better than any of us so called "little, uneducated people" and I feel way better about myself today.................know what I mean, jelly bean??? peace.......

Mr. Clarke....6th grade. I never had a male teacher before, always women teachers. I learned so much from him and had the up most respect and admiration for him as well. He was the BEST!
Mrs. Flory...9th grade (Algebra) She too was a great teacher.
Thanks for the nice question....it brought back a lot of good memories!

My all time favourite teacher was my college form teacher. She gave me so much encouragement even though she was having a hard time coping with her own work. She gave me a little card that read 'Nobody can do everything, but everybody can do something.' That phrase stayed with me ever since. She's been a source of inspiration in my life and I always repeat her words of comfort in my head whenever I encountered difficulties.

Mr. Eckdahl - 4th grade!!! Definitely my favorite but the one who has had the most positive influence is Mrs. Jenkins- 12th grade English. She taught us lots of Greek/ Latin rootwords, prefixes and suffixes. Here I am 23 years later and it is coming in handy in my medical terminology class! It has also come in handy throughout the years in other circumstances.

Ms. Davidson, my English teacher, and her husband (history teacher, but he was helping her out with her English classes when she was feeling unwell), 9th-10th grades. They were more than teachers... they were tutors for life for me.
I learned this quote from her and will never forget it:
"If you give a man a fish
You save him from starving
If you TEACH him how to fish
You feed him for a lifetime."
(Confutius)
They fed me for a lifetime, looks like... God Bless their footsteps!
Another person whom I respected a lot was my maths teacher from general school.
"If you don't succeed for the first time, try and try again!"
I learned swimming, ALONE with her words in my mind - she was and is an incredibly strong woman..... and a great motivator.

It was both of my band directors. Mr.Clements & Mr.Henry. I was the only female trumpet player in this county for years & they inspired me to not give up cause all the guys would pick at me for being the only female player. I stuck it out & was the soloist & I won several awards.
