A wirelss card or inbuilt wireless in each computer, and a wireless modem/router. That's all the hardware. Take the time to learn how to setup wireless security using WPA.

I just put my router (wireless) after the ISP connection, then that goes into the modem (modem goes to your PC), simple as that really. all I needed to do was reboot both the modem and router at the same time and it was setup, albeit in default mode - then I set up the router settings to what I wanted.
btw, I'm on cable.
