What do you mean?are you planning to sail from UK to australia Or coming to australia, getting hold of a boat and crew.Question is a bit vague.Other than registration(if motor powered)I don't see any problem.Obviously if coming from outside australia you'd need appropriate documentation passport, visa, health certificates. If your already here you can sail wherever you like.People drive cars from on side of the contlnent to the other without consultation.Don't see any difference for boats May'be customs would want some sort of itinerary?

They're very tough on safety items such as flares, liferaft, epirb etc etc. You may also need some sort of 'coastal skipper' licence or experience, but check on the internet, most east coast yacht clubs should be online by now.

You don't need any permits provided your boat is properly registered. Always carry identification and passports in the event of any unfortunate incidents.
