The safest way is to learn to lean back (and keep practicing). Adding anything to the ski makes control more difficult.

I'm sorry, but don't listen to the people who tell you to lean back. It is a bad habit and can impair you from getting better. Face it, buddy, falling is a part of skiing. The best and least stressful way to learn how to ski is to get an instructor. Any additional add-ons to skis only make the skis harder to handle, especially when you fall anyway, stopper or no stopper. Take lessons and when you've mastered the snowplow (or the wedge or the pizza slice, whatever you want to call it) take intermediate lessons.
Good luck!

Spread the backs of my skis apart and keep the front of the skis close
like an upside-down " V ". But you will always fall in skiing or snowboarding so dont worry! Its part of life...
But if u were talking about a snowboard instead of a skiing board like you said on the question u just turn ur snowboard facing forward and alittle tilt back....if ur going really fast turn ur snowbaord so its facing the front of u and dig really hard.....hope this is helpful :D

The ski is a beautiful thing. Anything added will only screw it up.
Learn how to ski, then this falling forward thing, and needing a "stopper", will go away.

I don't snowboard, but I snowski and if I want to stop or slow down
I spread the backs of my skis apart and keep the front of the skis close
like an upside-down " V ".
My ski instructor calls it "spreading peanut butter". : )
Hope this helps.

You have to lean forward (but not too much), to keep the your weight loaded on the front (the larger part) of the ski. Load it to control it.

sounds like you are trying use way too much upper body, when you lean forward you feel most weight on your shins pressing on your tounge of your boots but try and keep your back relatively straight.
