I agree with everyone else, study real hard.
But there *are* a couple of tips for math: Accept a definition as just that, a definition. Don't spend a lot of time asking *why* it's defined that way. After you've used it a few times it will usually become clear.
Take lots of notes in class. And then, after class and *before* you've forgotten everything the Prof. said, re-write your notes and clean them up so they're legible.
Also, work the example problems in your book. And I mean with pencil, paper, and calculator. Make yourself go through every step until you understand the principle(s) involved. For a math class, try to get at *least* 2 or 3 hours of study for every hour you spend in class.
Pick a quiet time and place to study, etc. etc. and all the other study practices you've heard a hundred times âº
It's a lot of work. But hey!! If it was easy, any fool could do it âº

everyday go to school and take good notes in class. Then when you get home, read over the day's lessons from each subject and do all the homework to the best of your ability. Then read the next day's lesson so you will have an idea of what will be taught before the class and that way you will understand the teacher a lot better and will have useful questions to ask the teacher and furthure your understanding. You gotta basically make school your priority and make everything else secondary. Work hard and study and don't let anything discourage you from achieving your goal.

let the teacher know that you want that A by listening attentively in class and promptly doing all your assignments. study hard. have someone teach you if you dont understand a particular lesson (ask the teacher if you want so he/she will know you really care about ur grades) if you're talking about math, then you also need a lot of practice even if you know about the lesson already.
do all of these then add determination and patience in the mix and ur good to go.

Of course you should study hard.
But if you want to practical advice also do the following:
Talk to your teacher or professor, especially if you don't understand something. They will appreciate that you are engaged and it may help you to understand what they are looking for when they are grading.
Find other diligent students, work with them together.
Do your assignments ahead of time. Don't cram.

you must have a good discipline like set aside certain time a day for study with no form of disturbance around, mix around with smart people who take studies seriously, pay attention in class, do revision every night. most importantly you must have the drive and like to study.

attend the lectures, take notes, ask questions, study hard. Every time you dont go well try to understand the reasons, and correct your errors the next time.
