Music and talk radio and especially satellite radio ( heck the old time comedy shows would cheer her up on there and the old comedians and jokes) and audio books are wonderful. Going for short walks and being with friends and socializing. She needs to be with people more. Where is the nearest Senior Center? Some of them have a shuttle service too.

You can check out CDs for free at the public library. Just look up the libraries CD collection on the Internet and reserve the good ones. You can also check out DVDs of most of the old television shows like I Love Lucy. Just listening to the sound is enough. I know there are hand held optical readers, so books would be a good source of entertainment as well.

Maybe you could suggest pottery, this would let her enhance one of her other senses(touch)and give her something that she would be able to give as gifts.
