I have heard that herbs containing silica will do that..horsetail and nettles.

Here are some foods That Will Help Your Nails

Foods that are rich in iron, calcium, vitamin B and potassium are as good for your nails as they are for the rest of your body. They include soy products, celery, yogurt, eggs and seafood too.
Other Foods To Consider

almonds
garlic
spinach
tuna
cinnamon
*Unfortunately...
eating gelatin won't help your nails.

DESCRIPTION

Healthy hair, skin, and nails means that our bodies are in balance and NAG and Glucosamine Sulfate are the key ingredients that make this happen. Both of these nutrients are an integral part of the "glue" which holds cells together in the connective tissues found in hair, skin, and nails. A combination of Vitamin A, E, and B Complex along with Zinc and Calcium help create the optimum environment for the formation of healthy hair, skin, and nails. Vitamin C and Beta Carotene are important for proper NAG and Glucosamine Sulfate utilization and to prevent free radical damage. This formula also contains important herbs: Butcher's Broom, Bilberry, Horsetail, and Nettles, which all provide valuable support for our hair, skin, and nails.

RESEARCH SUMMARY

NAG and Glucosamine Sulfate provide the "glue" that holds cells together in the connective tissues found in hair, skin, and nails
High levels of antioxidants protect the body from free radicals, while Butcher's Broom and Bilberry encourage healthy circulation to the skin
Important B vitamins, Vitamin E and GLA Powder supply important body oils which moisturize the hair
Horsetail and Nettles are rich in Silica which helps promote nail growth

Hope this helps...if you dont want to try formula, buy some horsetail in the bulk herbs at a health food store or online..mix 1/2 and 1/2 with 80 proof vodka..pul in a jar and shake several times a day. After 2 weeks strain through a cheescloth. Take 60 drops 3-5 xs a day. Also apply to toes with a cottom ball. Add nettles to the formula if desired.

This is called a tincture. Use this method to make any herbal formula at about one tenth the cost. Much better absorbed than capsules. Organic or wild crafted is the best.

good luck!
