I would make time for my patients, listen to them, make them feel comfortable. I often go into a doctors office and feel like I am being rushed, and also like the questions I do get to ask are stupid and lots of the time don't ask all of my questions because I am being shoved out the door. Also I would not make my patients wait! I went to a doctors office once and had a test done, the doctor who was looking after me spent 30 minutes talking to another doctor about the upcoming hockey season and he knew my test results were back!! The technician who did my test sat there and talked to me about how inconsiderate some doctors can be.

The modern model of western medicine is broken, and most docotrs know it. But the only way for them to practice, due to huge loans from 11 years of post HS education and exorbitant malpractice premiums is to go along with it, rushing patients through, denying treatment, and the drug merry-go-round.
Many doctors who can are going independent or forming groups to combat this trend of impersonal medicine.

First - It will be as per the oath taken on completion of my doctorate degree or Masters,
Next -- To work for the poor if I could afford.
Best -- To join the Army as a Doctor to take care of the solders who take care of our country.

I would act as I do as a nurse; have eye contact, smile, talk to them like humans, care and understand and have empathy for what they're going through.
